Nice blend of history and current events
As a medical history geek, I applaud Karen Wickiam for addressing both current events (schizophrenia; the Alex Wubbles case) and historical events (the "Dr. Lobotomy" installments). She manages to establish historical relevance to modern society without compromising accuracy or making too many sweeping generalizations. I LOVE that she relies on several primary sources to support her episodes (sound clips, excerpts from letters, etc.) The use of primary sources in historically-oriented podcasts is of crucial importance, and Karen strikes an admirable balance between "research" and "narrative."Read full review »

The first podcast I listened to took 8 minutes to get to the actual story. The first 8 minutes was spent on pure fluff. Thank patreons at the end of the podcast or maybe speed up that part if you insist on doing it at the beginning. The fluff takes away from the topics.

I'm loving this podcast. The topic is so interesting and I haven't heard any other podcasts quite like it. The host's personal experience and expertise in the medical field adds a lot to the show. The production quality is very impressive for a first time podcaster as well.Read full review »
