“Change the names of the people & places in this story and it could easily be my hometown in East Texas. I'm fascinated with every person in this story. The characters are enthralling. I would listen to a daily podcast about these people's lives...the intriguing murder mystery is just a bonus. I know that a thick accent and limited access to higher education tends to make intelligent people from rural areas seem like idiot savants to the rest of the world. There are so many stories to be told about the shocking corruption that exists in these backwoods societies.”Read full review »
