“I love Kara’s work, but this interview fell flat with me. Kara is great at needling tech CEOs but the Speaker of The House is not a CEO. The role is not so direct and Kara seemed to not understand the nuance of being a co-equal branch of government. The Speaker is powerful by building coalitions, horse trading and finesse. I’m really tired of people and reporters expecting government to work like businesses, which are not democracies and more like dictatorships. If we lose our appreciation for the process of government and involving the people, then we lose our democracy.
