Breaking the notion of political gridlock
I have a temporary visceral reaction to everytime I hear people say they will have to agree to disagree because intellectually I know that is a copout. So, when I saw this podcast mention in the NYT I had to listen out of curiosity to see if these 3 could have a discussiong that wouldn't devolve into a shouting match. As a liberal who reads all three I was amazed and delighted how each listens to the others completely without interruption. No one's arugment seems to be dismissed out of hand and everything is given the opportunity to at least be thoughtfully considered before being accepted or rejected. The sense of hopelessness which has invaded American policits in this century cannot last or our house will be permanently divided and our fragile experiment in democracy will die. I don't know the way out but I do know the way begins when folks learn to communicate like Michelle, Ross and David. Good work you three.Read full review »
