Defines a normalization of a false definition of addiction
I hope these podcast authors have the confidence in their statements to read some of the negative reviews too. While sex addiction is very legitimate, I am one of the many many people misdiagnosed by people who embrace an overly constrictive definition of "sex addiction" which is flatly untrue. I attended SLAA for months and admitted it powerfles over me before I let the dust settle from the affair I caused, and realized I have high sexual libido (like almost all mammals by our physical design) but am in no way, shape, or form a sex addict. The overly constrive views promote this. There are dozens of articles that talk about "Sex Addict, or Just a Cheater." While my process looking into Sex Addiction let me understand some of the origins of my behavior, there are three core elements that create sex addiction: shame, neglect, and trama. If you don't have all three or experienced all three in your upbringing, then you are likely not a sex addict. It's a bummer that this podcast embraces the blurred lines so people who do not have addiction believe they do. In my SLAA meetings, about 1/2 of the people were genuine Sex & Love addicts. About half actually were not, they just looked at porn often mostly due to sexual neglect, likely let it spiral out of control slightly but are not actual addicts, and then did not have sex often. Instead of addessing the issues with their spouses, they let is continue on unhealthy. But that is not sex addiction, period.Read full review »

This woman is being abused on air by an abusive man who is manipulating her and a therapist who doesn't understand abuse. It's unethical and super alarming. I feel so bad for her!Read full review »

At first I was just annoyed, but as time went on, my annoyance turned to anger and I found myself in trauma. It took some time and...Read full review »
