Was going to listen but then heard Alan Jones’ voice, and my ears deserve better.

Eye opening podcast about an amazing sport that has been ruined by greed and incompetence. It was great hearing the views of ex coaches and players. And I pray that people hear this and want to do more to promote Rugby in Australia. I hope the break down does stories like this for all Australian...Read full review »

This is a great podcast for any rugby or sporting fan. Keep up the great work!!!

What a load of rubbish. “The game played in heaven” i very much doubt it. Rugger is outdated and know one cares about it.
Roger Dismal via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 12/14/21
Superficially explores racism in the sport, but fails to mention the role News Corp contributor Alan Jones played in shortening the career of Mark Ella (retired age 25!!!).

This is compelling listening for any rugby fan. There are encouraging signs that some of the greats of the game are now getting more involved to help counter the dire situation the game is in. Fundamental change to the culture of the RA board and good corporate governance moving forward just...Read full review »

The content sounds interesting and it’s clearly a story worth telling, but the presenter sounds like she’s concussed. While she might be the person who’s done the legwork, this desperately needs a person with a better sounding voice who can deliver the content without stumbling or pausing oddly...Read full review »

The podcast tells a valuable lesson to anyone in sport or business. It is a bit slow but nonetheless is comprehensive in telling this story. However it does misses some key reasons why Rugby has fallen so much. Even in its successful years, its success was based on how the Wallabies were going...Read full review »

Really enjoyed this. Was living in Australia for many years and can remember many of the headlines mentioned here. Where did the money go

A podcast about the death of Australian Rugby by News Corp. No mention of Foxtel’s part in this?
dueven1 via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 06/08/21
Was hopeful this would be a valid and honest representation of mistakes made and plans for the future. Should have read the list of contributors before so I had known not to bother. Other than Eales, a true legend of the game, John ONeil, the guy no-one listened too and Twiggy, the bloke who...Read full review »

Perfect example of how a ‘professional’ podcast pays too much attention to intrusive professional gimmicks like annoying ‘musical’ links, and not enough to telling a good story. Bits and pieces linked together by loud music does not make for compelling listening.

Spoiler alert: RA spent a lot of money and have nothing to show for it.

Haha! Calling on a player manager to talk about toxicity in sport. Just wow

Great bit of fiction. In summary, 6 episodes of News limited cronies pedalling complete rubbish.
Youtube Shaggy via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 04/25/21
Just like the current team, this is an exceptional poor podcast. Seems to miss lots out and sugar coats some of the more fundamental challenges faced by RA.

This could have been a great analysis but was ruined by the host placing herself at the centre of the story and pretending she was on This American Life. Who cares that she apologised to the club coach for the racism he perceived in rugby? Let the talent speak for themselves. The series was...Read full review »

Great to see some light shone on this issue. Such a shame a game thriving all over the world is failing here in one of its heartlands. Give the power to the clubs. Club people are the heart of the game. Rugby is a community organisation first and a business second. The people own the game not...Read full review »

Jessica Halloran’s hosting work is so infuriating I had to turn off after 20 minutes. Let people make up their owns minds and just tell us the story. Those weird noises she makes and bias opinions make me physically sick.

Campo has always marched to the beat of his own drum. In my view back in the day he was only interested in 2 things- Campo and $. It was crass to announce his millionaireship when most internationals were afraid and embarrassed to take $100 “boot” money for a game. Very suspicious at his...Read full review »

What a hatchet job by Murdoch media. Why can’t you be transparent and disclose that you made this podcast after losing the broadcast rights to rugby in Australia and have decided to exact revenge on the game and its administrators. Very disappointing.

The interviews bring us great access to different people across many aspects of the story. The production as a whole somehow fails to be very engaging, though. It's missing something I can't quite put my finger on. It's also missing ANY kind of segue to the commercials and back. At...Read full review »

Really enjoyed this podcast. Great interviews with leading figures from all aspects of the game. Particularly enjoyed the inclusion of past captains, and rugby tragics John Howard and twiggy forest. However, it was clear from the offset this was a news Corp production, never one to let a thinly...Read full review »

It took me a little while to get hooked but I listened to all the episodes in 2 days, great insight with some big heavy hitter interviews.

Comparing taking a knee to Folau preaching hate against homosexuals? Seriously? One is a call for equality and one is promoting inequality. Do better!

Really tough listen. There is a wonderful and sad history here and instead we can these incredibly boring character pieces.

I was really looking forward to an in-depth analysis of how the game fell from success. Instead we heard a lot of old names reminiscing about past glory days and airing old grudges. I also found the interviewer’s “yeaaah” and “ummmm” particularly annoying.

That’s largely what’s behind some of their failure.

Was really excited to listen to a podcast understanding the wrong turns we took and ideas on how to get back to where we were. Wow I was so let down the story average and I have to say I think pulled together by someone who does not know the sport. Also the narration really, was it a emotional play up. If you want to understand episode 1 minute 17-22. Very poor lost the message as a result of poor interviewing

Great podcast. Well structured and sucked me straight in. Others who have rubbished it are the last of the rugby die hards who prove that the truth hurts...

This is a great listen. I was rugby mad as a kid. Went to a wallaby training clinic after winning a competition. Haven’t watched a game in 15 years. Sad really. I have a signed jersey from David Campese. I don’t think the game can be saved unfortunately... but thanks for doing this podcast!
maxrat90 via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 03/30/21
The fact that within 15 minutes, the reporters relied on David Campese’s inability to get a coaching job as a core issue, was an immediate red flag. Campo is a divisive figure with a mediocre coaching resume. Specialist skills coach at best. Teki is a great man but I don’t believe that he is...Read full review »

As a Pacifica descent current rugby league supporter who grew up loving rugby this podcast hits the nail on the head. Rugby needs drastic measures and on field success otherwise it will become a minor footy code. The negative ratings must be from the sour private school boys.
Bati88 via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 03/30/21
The preamble “describing” this podcast is really misleading. Unfortunately wasted my time on a couple of episodes hoping in vein it would get to the point. Give it a wide berth in my view.
Aussie_oy via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 03/30/21
News Corp hitjob using the same old, tired complainants - Campese, Quade Cooper, Alan Jones. What killed rugby was being behind a Foxtel paywall for 25 years. That ends, all of a sudden this garbage gets put out.
fphicks via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 03/28/21
I’m Canadian so know very little about Rugby. The machinations behind the scenes along with insight into the players lives is a universal story about sports. So relatable. I recommend it!

Rubbish. Grass roots in Brisbane is booming and I have never seen more people at games. Podcast only focus’ on the negative.
