Simon stands out
Considering the number of true crime and disaster podcasts I listen to during the night shift, my coworkers tend to shake their heads and avoid my work station. The casual criminalist is one of the few where they will stop and listen with me. The combination of terrible crimes and Simon’s outraged or critical commentary on events from a script that he’s reading cold makes for far easier listening when compared to some who seem to delight in the atrocities they’re describing. Kudos for being able to make horrible things interesting without glorifying or delighting in them. It’s a little satisfying that, by the end of the podcast, we’re often thinking the criminal as ignominious rather than infamous.
