Adore this show and its format; the writers are excellent and Simon’s personal input, though while it can ramble, makes it so much more personable and less clinical.

I love how you turn a five minute script into a 2 hour rant.

In the true crime world it can be incredibly difficult to find a channel that focuses on the victims and not the perpetrators. The writers here are absolutely brilliant, crafting immersive stories that put you in the shoes of the victims or their families and focusing on the details of police...Read full review »

For some reason the middle of the episode is missing here. There’s only 22 minutes here on Apple Podcasts.

While I enjoy the topics of this podcast, the very first episode I chose to listen to has multiple problems with the audio: repeating sections and skipping other sections, and with the speed of Simon's speech, it means that you actually miss not an insignificant amount of information. Going...Read full review »

Amazingly-researched, presented and narrated. All with a huge emphasis on understanding rather than just gawking at these horrible crimes, let’s go Simon, Jen and all the writers<3

My absolute favorite crime podcast.

Listening to Simon talk through these scripts with his own personal interjections is like having a conversation with a friend. I am absolutely obsessed with this podcast and can't recommend it enough to anyone that also gets a bit lost in tangents and digresses from the point sometimes. Its...Read full review »

I started listening to this show after a friend introduced me and I got hooked! All of the writers are excellent (though I do miss Callum’s searing wit) and Jen’s editing is top notch. Although I personally have no issue with the “saw” aspects of murders and hearing the gory details, I’m...Read full review »

The show is well researched, and written very well, and the way he does it he really cares about the victims and the families, and in a lot of ways it affects him I like the way he tells the stories that are written for him and even stops when it gets really bad because he has a family. He has...Read full review »

The story’s are great, well written ,in-depth and informative. Then S has a personal inflection which 4 out of 5 times are unfunny, witless and obvious to anyone with an iq above a cucumber

Hands down my favorite true crime show. Not only is it deeply entertaining during long drives and longer shifts, but Simon is a respectful and well-spoken host who doesn’t revel in the more gory and graphic details. Respect for the victims is important and this show is one of the only I’ve heard...Read full review »

I was brought up with “if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything”. But, there are exceptions, and this is one of them. The presenter just takes so long to get to the point! He laughs at his own innuendos and apparent comedy, that’s, just annoying, and seems to swear to fit into a...Read full review »

I have recently discovered the piece of art that is the Casual Criminalist. What a well written, edited, and hosted show. I don’t think taking an amused and light-hearted tone while discussing extremely grisly murders and other crimes was the right way to go here. Too many jokes that aren’t funny, his narratives of the crimes are disorganized, and he talks so fast and allows himself to go on so many irrelevant...Read full review »

I enjoy this podcast and always look forward to new episodes. Even though many of the cases are are extremely dark Simon adds a humanity to the narrative that many other true crime podcasts lack. I’ve been binging a lot of Simon’s content since seeing his YouTube channel for the first time last month. I wish all of his channels were available as podcasts! This is the ONLY True Crime show I enjoy in any form. Simon and his writers expound and then unpack these horrific crimes and criminal lives in a way that is always respectful to the victims and disdainful to the victims. The lack of cold objectivity like some true crime programs is refreshing....Read full review »

TL;DR Great Concept, Great Execution, Simon's great, the writers are great, the editors are great, the often grim topics are handled with the utmost respect for the victims and their families. Really struggled with the delivery, the pointless ramblings seem to get in the way of facts. Really hard to listen to. More like paranoid schizophrenic than ‘madcap’ ! Not my cup of tea.

Simon is constantly interrupting the script with bad jokes, rambling thoughts and terrible opinions on mental health. Many episodes never include a disclaimer or even a brief description. Good stories, abysmal execution

This show has completely hooked me; I am slowly bur surely working through every single episode. Simon’s calming voice, hilarious tangents and comments are so entertaining - paired with brilliant script writing and thorough research makes a *chef’s kiss* podcast to keep the mind busy.

Gosh he speaks so fast!!!! He also jumps around topics frequently. He will be talking about how for example Ted Bundy was stalking Margaret, and then he goes on about his methods of stalking and weapons, which in that circumstance wasn’t related. This is a great podcast though, keep going!!!!!! 🤩🤗

Love Simon, love the content, only downer is that the episodes seem to skip around. In the middle of a sentence it’ll randomly go back a minute or two, sometimes it will just skip forward, no clue what was said. Should definitely check on your editing after posting
