Writing by Calum and delivered by Simon Whistler. This podcast is great not only for the writing and delivery but the subject matter, which is really interesting.

I listen to your podcasts while working and your little commentary run offs have me burst out laughing with no one else in the room. Keep on Whistler!

You are absolutely hysterical! You make hearing about Sam Little and others funny even though their acts are horrendous ! I just love you and hope u never stop! Thank you for bringing some humor to death!

Meticulously detailed, expertly written, delivered by a dude who is clearly a professional. Every other podcast in the genre is rubbish compared to this. A suggestion for a topic- the 2015 Clinton Correctional Facility escape {adapted as a miniseries titled “Escape At Dannemora” directed by Ben...Read full review »

Not only is the host of this podcast incredibly annoying but he’s also terribly tasteless and flippant. I only listened to the Vampire Clan episode but this clown is cracking jokes the entire time. Bro people were brutally murdered. Not necessarily the most light hearted of the subjects. A bit of...Read full review »

Love the show. Huge variety of content and random side stories into Simons life. **can I suggest: The North Pond Hermit. Easily the best true crime podcast I’ve listened too

The constant laughing and joking was weird and distracting. I couldn’t stand the excessive side commentary and giggling. I tried really hard to finish the episode, but I couldn’t.

Despite the high quality of the show, it is obvious that there is less care given to the production of the podcast as there are frequently skips in the recording that can make episodes confusing and hard to follow.

Love the way the narrator goes into storytelling. Hats off to the writers!

Simon Whistler’s engaging storytelling and meticulous research make each episode a captivating experience. Can’t deal with the presenter. Ten minutes of yelling and Dad jokes had me reaching for the Off switch. Thanks but no thanks. You’re not doing the subjects justice

Well done for covering a SA story😉 ZAR currency stands for Zuid (South) Afrika Rand (the original Dutch name) FYI. Look into “Devilsdorp” story in Klerksdorp for it’s a very interesting story! Jeanne (SA/ZAR)

I love this and several of Simon’s other projects. The audio levels are low on a good portion of episodes. But, other than that it’s great. I love his commentary and the vast variety in locations, dates, and perspectives
Desmond-the-MoonBear via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 08/28/24
The host is constantly stopping in the middle of every sentence to talk about himself. It makes otherwise interesting topics completely unlistenable. Either has a live person to talk to, or just read the story.

An interesting crime story telling technique. Simons incredulous reactions and outbursts are hilarious. The Police do seem to take nearly all the blame, which I agree in many cases, but the Justice system release these monsters on technicalities or some legal loop hole repeatedly when the Police...Read full review »

This is a solid, well produced podcast. Each story focuses on a singular crime or series of crimes (mostly murders). It keeps a good balance of teaching you about all aspects of the crimes including the victims, investigations, sentencing and criminal. This podcast doesn’t glorify serial killers...Read full review »

My favorite true crime show. And my second favorite show from the Whistlerverse (my favorite is deciding the unknown).

The narrator’s voice is very annoying. Sounds like he is trying to speed read and doesn’t give a care about the victim. He even blames the victim for getting into the car. Rubish

Great podcast

Amazing show! Nothing really more to say. But people keep digging at Simon for being “annoying” and “privileged”. We must stand up for him, folks! ¡Viva la revolución! (Edit: Simon, please cover Park Myung-sik, North Korea’s only recognized serial killer)

Simon and the team have done it again. Aptly named with being casually about crimes, a bit of humour without being disrespectful. Refreshing change in the True Crime podcast scene! Doesn’t go deep into the gorey details “CSI not Saw.” Cases are read as a cold read and even if the writers have...Read full review »

So I’ve got that weird tick where listening to crimes helps me through rough days. Simon and all the REALLY great script writers: Emily, Dani, Rachel, David, Michael - I hope I’m giving you guys proper credit, I’m writing this so late- thank you so much. I really REALLY like how much spotlight is...Read full review »

I have to say that there are not many podcast hosts that don’t get on my nerves. Simon delivers with a sense of humour and has enough self awareness to reel himself in if he does go off in a tangent! And the writing is factual and interesting!

I feel like the main narrative must come from a very privileged background because he constantly references his blessed life, everything going up. Further, he belittles important aspects of life when your poor, for example, having a tub. Maybe less gloating and more empathy?

A series of superbly written scripts read by an entertaining narrator and put together to make a hugely addictive podcast. I enjoy how Simon does a cold read of the script, it brings out a natural reaction to some grim content. Honestly, if there was a podcast called “Simon’s Rambles”, I’d listen...Read full review »

Overall great show and content. However the host always bashes Christianity and makes it very known that he dislikes it. Everyone has their opinions, but constantly hating on Christianity as if it’s being forced it kinda out of hand.

I’ve seen documentaries and films on this story but Simon has to be the best version he makes it sound even better especially when he says don’t want to take a dump in your cornflakes had me in stitches

Ok
So I’m about half way through an episode. The constant quips And jokes are too much. Especially on subjects he’s ignorant of. His exhale through his nose every five seconds is very annoying. He goes from talking to yelling jokes. The subject of the podcast is interesting. But he’s a bit much.

Without a doubt my absolute favorite podcast in the true crime genre (or even favorite in general)! The presentation is great; I especially love the focus on investigation, as opposed to a focus on just shock-factor.
