HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO THOSE WHO CELEBRATE! It's the time of year we gather to be with family and friends. To some, this is welcome and joyful, to others stressful and triggering. Wherever you find yourself, this episode is for you. There is a fine line between self-regulating and keeping your emotions at bay and repressing them. As humans, we are constantly in a battle between authenticity and attachment. It's so important to be awake and aware of this reality so you are best able to find a...

Guys!! What a fantastic convo with Misha. Not only did she overcome severe IBS and IC (stomach and bladder pain) but she completely eliminated chronic sinusitis and allergies. Though a move to escape her environment, Misha realized that the work was an inside job, and boy did she do it. She "gets it" big time, and opened me to engage in a powerful conversation about the brain science and the reasons we are sick. Such great stuff here - a must listen for sure! xoxo n. Producer: Lisa...

Every so often on this podcast, I do a deep dive into the theories of TMS as founded by Dr. John Sarno, the brain science behind chronic conditions of many kinds, and the work necessary to alleviate it. I believe that a primer once in a while is key in centering each of us in the correct mindset to heal. Join me as we discuss my own story, the ways in which it applies to you and your pain and anxiety, and how to take this life changing work and do it for yourself. Love to get back to basics...

So excited and happy to have Dana on the pod today! Dana was a member of my very first Omega Institute retreat, and reached out let us know how she was doing. It was a great pleasure to reconnect and be reminded of what a profound affect Omega has on people's lives. It's just the gift that keeps on giving! Through a long and winding journey of symptoms, fear, and solutions, Dana has profound insights on doing this work and on the power of community. Join us for a moving conversation! If you...

There is so much talk of generational trauma. I know this subject well, as my father was the child of Holocaust survivors, and he grew up in Europe hiding from the post war Nazi influence. But what of generational health? What of passing on healing to our children. Sounds good, right? Let's talk about it today. Let's talk about why we unknowingly pass on our pain and hurt, and how we can open ourselves to awareness and pass on a much different story. With all the pain in the world right now,...

I have been interviewing people on this podcast for a long time, and every story of a human life changed is so moving to me. Long covid came onto the scene soon after Covid itself, and there are millions sidelined from it. News article after new article chronicles the daily struggle of people suffering, with rarely a solution in sight. I have been adamant from the start that Long Covid is TMS - plain and simple - and that my work could reverse it. Today we have Rachel, one of the many...

This is a tough week to produce a podcast. We struggled long and hard on how I could express our feelings around what is going on in the Middle East. It's difficult to find the right words when tensions are so high, but impossible to say nothing. Thank you to my incredible producer Lisa Eisenpresser who was able to help formulate my heart into a communication that felt real and true. I hope wherever this finds you and whomever you are, you are able to use a little bit of wisdom on pausing and...

Kimberley knew nothing about this work when she arrived at The Omega Institute for our retreat last June. She had recently given birth to her 4th child, and she saw the retreat as a "spa vacation" to take a break from her life. Boy, was she hit with a reality check when she arrived at a no joke week of transformational hard work! BUT. This was the beginning of a new life for Kimberley. Having suffered from extreme chronic conditions and diagnoses for a lifetime, Kimberley found herself at a...

The Symptom Imperative (SI) is a concept that bears repeating, as it's so key to embrace and understand. There are few that walk this path who have not experienced it. The SI is when TMS symptoms move around, from one part of the body to the next, trying to get your attention and "protect" you from the repressed emotional reservoir that is overflowing and sending your nervous system into dysregulation. Today on the pod we feature a Speakpipe from Eva. She utilized this work to recover...

When Katie first joined our Membership Community last fall, she has already been through the gamut of TMS symptoms since childhood. Raised in a family affected by alcoholism, Katie as the oldest child was parentified from a young age. Although she was stricken with pretty serious TMS growing up, Katie always showed up with a brave face. At home, nothing was discussed. At school, she shined. This, of course, can't last forever - no human can take it. Join us today for a profound and impactful...

Today on the pod Lisa and discuss the lessons learned from my move across country. Although the idea for this pod began as a (rageful) PSA on moving companies and the ugly scammy business they are, it quickly evolved into a conversation about why we ignore red flags, allow others to shame us, and lose the power to use our voices. Let's take a moment today to reflect on how our old programming may be standing in the way of our authenticity, and take the steps to mindfully change that. Love to...

When Lisa and I first came across Elise Loehnen's most recent work, On Our Best Behavior: The Seven Deadly Sins and the Price Women Pay to be Good, we were taken by the many parallels between Elise's explanation of women's emotional repression and our own work with the TMS community. Elise has written a masterful book that deconstructs the many reasons that women struggle to be heard, both by others and themselves. The synergy between Elise's work and ours is profound. Join us as we chat all...

As this new post pandemic world rolls along, we are living now in the age of Long Covid. So many people are suffering, and it's so important to discuss as often as possible the ways in which we can keep our fears at bay, recognizing long covid for what it is: a reaction of the mindbody system to stress and long-term sustained fight or flight. In other words, Long Covid is TMS. Today we have the first of many - a conversation with my partner and producer Lisa Eisenpresser about what it feels...

When HBO's The Vow revealed that a horrible cult leader was abusing women, I was riveted to every episode. But the most captivating thing about this documentary series for me was the strength and fortitude of a mother desperately seeking to rescue her beloved daughter. Catherine and India Oxenberg's story was one that gripped me the entire time, and I was rooting for them vehemently - mother to mother - energetically. Cut to several months later: I get a DM on instagram from Catherine. The...

Times of transition, change, and upheaval are breeding grounds for TMS. Today on the podcast, we talk a little about how I'm handling that in my own life, and one of the most important concepts to continue to practice in these times: Belief in this process and TMS. Today we are taking on the concept of belief, trusting yourself, "Knowing" from the seat of your consciousness, and so much more. As a redux of one the most popular episodes of last summer, we share a story from Michelle, a...

Brooke has been a yogi for years, and co-owns two incredible yoga studios. Even after practicing yoga up to 6 times a week, Brooke's flexibility and pain on the mat never changed. She resolved herself to the fact that this was simply, "What her body was like." After coming across my JournalSpeak practice and teachings, Brooke decided to take a chance and see what was constricting her within. She was SHOCKED to see her body physically change as she did her JS practice throughout the pandemic....

When I first met Raye in 2019, she was struggling so badly with tinnitus, vertigo, and migraines that her tour manager had to put garbage cans just off stage at every show in case she had to exit the stage to be sick. Raye had an attack of vertigo that lasted, unrelenting, for 3 months! We did a RTH (Real Time Heal) on the pod and we delved deeply into Raye's upbringing, personal struggles, and epiphany that childhood sickness equaled love and care from her parents. Today we follow up with...

Trauma-informed recovery is key in helping people move past chronic pain and illness. Today on the pod we look at our lives through the lens of relationship and trauma, and the ways in which we might be replaying patterns in order to "fix" what has been hurtful in the past. It's incredible the changes that become possible when we are clear as to why we do things, and are able to pause and stay curious. I share a story about my own life which, two years later, is entirely transformed. I love...

Wow. Wow is all I can say when I think about Suzanne's story and her stunning recovery. I first head Suzanne's voice on a Speakpipe where she was reaching out to express her joy and gratitude for being recovered and to offer to share with the world her harrowing journey. I reached back out enthusiastically - everyone needs to hear what Suzanne is saying about how dark it can be, how hopeful it can get, the twists and turns in the path, and much more. I'm thrilled to share Suzanne with you...

As Dr. Sarno always said, you do NOT need to change your life to be out of chronic pain. As we also acknowledge here, sometimes when you know yourself more deeply, it's hard to keep showing up as people-pleasing, codependent, and boundary-less. Today on the pod we feature a Speakpipe from Nathalie. After 2 horrible years of long covid, she considers herself totally recovered. But... not everyone likes the way she is showing up now, self-possessed and knowing who she is. Let's talk about how...

I came across Caitlin's account on Instagram one day and I was like, "OMG this woman is living, breathing JournalSpeak!" Caitlin's oldest son had cancer as a small child, and after living through that, she just had no more f***s to give. Caitlin realized that speaking her truth freed others, and hopped online to live out loud. On her Instagram account @bigtimeadulting, Caitlin brings humor and humanness to this ride we call parenting, and life. I love her message of self-forgiveness in the...

Anxiety, stress, overwhelm, and worry are natural and normal and many of us have them in spades. But let's consider, today, what it would be like to live each day doing the work necessary to quiet them. This is what I have been doing for the past year, and the result are pretty extraordinary. Today on this solo pod, I share with you the things that have been contributing to the potential for TONS of anxiety and stress in my life, and the ways in which this work has quelled them. I love to hop...

Mouse was a private client of mine many moons ago. When we met, she was in a wheelchair. Her doctors had her on a bevy of medications for autoimmune diseases like Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis (they weren't sure which one she had because she had ALL the markers for both), and her plantar fasciitis was so severe she couldn't walk. And that was just the beginning - Mouse has every physical problem known to man. Cut to today: Mouse plays 18 holes of golf, swims laps for an hour a day, and take...

Gratitude is a verb. We need to learn how to live it. The nervous system is desperate for our input of calm, peace, and well being. The kind of gratitude we discuss today on the pod is the kind that brings us there. The reason we suffer ubiquitously with chronic issues is that we are in long-term, sustained fight/flight/freeze/fawn. Actively practicing gratitude is one way to circumvent this posture and allow for optimal healing. Join me today as I share a wonderful revelatory Speakpipe from...

Heather was in a "bad mood" for months, even years. She had taken a job that was way too much pressure, and wasn't practicing self-care. One day on vacation, the occasional migraine that used to be nothing to Heather came on like a storm. She experienced numbness and pain to the point where she worried she was having a stroke! This led to a chronic situation of which I am VERY familiar. Once she found this podcast, Heather was able to begin her healing journey, but she has questions about...
