Narcissistic in the extreme.
There's nothing wrong with deeply examining long held beliefs, or strident honesty about doubts. Too often people DO fail to go to these places because they are afraid of disappointing others. Nor is it a bad thing to examine points of view outside of one's own faith tradition. But what I find insufferable about this podcast is the glee with which the hosts embrace any stream of thought parallel to their own as if some oppressed minority had been vindicated, and some heretofore unrecognized genius praised. They are in head over heels in love with their own intellectual and spiritual journeys. This makes them, at times, uncritical sycophants when they find someone in alignment with themselves. The Rob Bell episode is particularly bad. If you like to listen to people fawn adoringly over everything Rob Bell says for an hour, you have more patience than I do.Read full review »
