“I have been listening to the podcast for a few months. In fact, I am starting to replace binge eating with binge listening, and it is a welcome substitution. This comes after decades grappling with disordered eating and many attempts to overcome the social and psychological fallout, in addition to the physical repercussions, of that behavior. What I most appreciate from Martha is the informed perspective, the concrete and practical approach, and the invitation to enter into creative dialogue openly and respectfully with the behavior. Listening to each episode feels like sharing intimacies with a trusted and knowing friend. There are a lot of podcasts available to people who struggle with binge eating. Not all of them are hosted by someone with such a lovely speaking voice; her down-to-earth authenticity makes her a compassionate mentor. I feel safe on the journey because, as she would say, she’s “holding the space” for me. As a poet, I also greatly appreciate Martha’s lyricism. She talks straight but also peppers her delivery with playful metaphor, engaging storytelling, catchy rhythms and rhymes, and honest soulfulness. Style aside, the scientific content regarding brain chemistry is presented in an accessible way. And she doesn’t oversell her product; although coaching service is a wonderful way to build on the information presented in the podcast, the episodes never feel like a product pitch. My only word of caution would be the occasional use of adult language or subject matter that some sensitive individuals could deem suitable only for a mature audience. All in all, this is a valuable resource with premium content worthy of subscription if you or someone you know has an issue with binge eating. One last suggestion: listen with your journal close by so that you can jot down the thoughtful questions, affirmations, and visualization exercises she offers.”
