“I listen to many popular health podcasts and Dr Lyon has been a guest on many. I find it refreshing that a female physician is promoting strength training and building muscle as a means to health for all but particularly women. She has had some really great guests however, I find her singular focus on muscle somewhat myopic. It feels more like a way to become “niche famous” than a paradigm shift for the practice of medicine. Her most recent episode with Marie Claire Harver left much to be desired. Harver is a proponent of keto/fasting and peddles an expensive diet community membership. She claims to be science based but much of her approach is anecdotal or use of observational data “suggesting benefit” as evidence based. With as fast as the fields of medicine and health change, both women seemed overly confident in their interpretation of current data. This felt like a giant commercial for Harver who is also trying to be “niche famous” by selling you information that is free and somewhat contradictory to some of Dr Lyon’s own recommendations.”
