fascinating stories and a critical look at our legal system
I have always naively believed in the rule of law—that is, the concept that written laws are the ultimate authority, not any person. “The Loophole” does an excellent service by pulling back the veil and showing how legislative and judicial systems actually operate. Practicality wins out over jurisprudence, and courts ignore laws when judges find them to be inconvenient. Plus “The Loophole” contains some great storytelling. I’m looking forward to more fascinating oddities in our “American Experiment." Curious if 1-star reviewers even listened to the episodes. Saying that America is a work in progress is not a slam on the country. It is imagining that something better is possible. And part of experimentation is continual testing and seeking alternatives to see if and how we can be better.Read full review »
