“Very interesting even though I listen to this podcast from a perspective of a patient. I wasn’t born in the US and came from Russia in my 20’s. So I’m still getting used to US pricing on dentistry. I had several appointments at regular office, one root canal in specialized clinic (NJ, premolar $1100). But getting all services done at Rutgers Dental School from then on. It’s usually at least 1/2 price of regular dentist. Though I’m the future, for any major work done aka crown, implant, surgery, which would cost several thousand of dollars. I’m planning to buy ticket to Russia and have that work done there. There are great specialists and it would cost me fraction of the price I’d get charged in the US. Even with the plane tickets and time I’d have to take off work. There are many reasons why dental services in US priced the way they priced, I understand that, but I also don’t want to pay 3000 for a crown.”
