Actually? It Quite Changed My Life...
This review is a long time coming. I have listened to every single one of The Habit podcasts...MOST of them three times, some of them only once, and a good handful of them seven or eight times...really! I listened to the entire two seasons in three months when I discovered it in the spring of 2020. Out of the 100 episodes so far, only one had near heresy in it... but this is a podcast about writing, not precisely about theology. Though, that topic has its way of glistening off the tongues of these wonderful authors as they explore their lives and loves through the end of their pens. I truly cherish these conversations. They have welcomed me into the world of writing, and I feel, somehow welcome here. This is how this podcast has changed my life. It brought me from being an admiring outsider afraid to step into my passion for writing, to the table of conversation with many of the greats of today. This podcast is a true education, in the most ancient and holy of ways. Come and sit at the table with those who hold wisdom by experience, and share grace freely by friendship. Jonathan Rogers may "hum" and "umm" a lot, but I have discovered that these pauses are just signs of his humility in all that he says. He is careful, caring, and generous, and from this podcast you would assume he's just a friendly neighbor next door, rather than the highly learned scholar that he really is. I hope you enjoy this cast as much I as have. It is one of only three casts that I follow regularly, and I've tried dozens.Read full review »

I’ve not only gained courage for my writing (and more book recommendations than I’ll ever be able to explore), but...Read full review »

Jonathan Rogers does a beautiful job of drawing out his guests. I’ve listened to almost every episode and each humble guest has something truly wonderful and worthwhile to offer to the listener. I’ve been given courage to believe that even I might be able put some words down on a page.

Such a great podcast - good and rare, in a sea of podcasts, to find one that talks practically and thoughtfully on creativity and writing. Jonathan is such an excellent and humble interviewer, a writer himself with a great understanding of the craft. It’s wonderful to hear Christians speak on the...Read full review »
