Turned right off during The Faerie Queene episode when he said “to finish my sentence”. What a nice host you are!

Encouragement for creatives of all kinds, as the speaker and his guests often talk through the creative process, it’s joys, and struggles..all with a redemptive point of view.

Do you need encouragement to live your one wild and precious life? Might you consider yourself a writer or an emerging writer? Do you like podcasts? Do you find Jesus tolerable, or maybe downright attractive? If the answer is in the affirmative to these questions, you may have found a home here.

Some of the best books I’ve read in the last couple of years I was introduced to through this podcast. I highly recommend this podcast for the interviews themselves, and for the books and other art that are discussed in them.

Jonathan Rogers does a beautiful job of drawing out his guests. I’ve listened to almost every episode and each humble guest has something truly wonderful and worthwhile to offer to the listener. I’ve been given courage to believe that even I might be able put some words down on a page.

I love the idea behind this podcast, but the reality is the host seems to struggle deeply to just let his guests speak. He asks a question and answers it himself. He eats up time summarizing what the guests are saying and ends up taking more time away from the listener being able to hear from...Read full review »

The Habit is a major source of joy and encouragement for me, and is a weekly opportunity to see the world though other’s eyes. I am constantly inspired to, as is often said in the show, tell a truer story than ones the world tries to give.

I’ve been listening to this podcast for two years and it is still my favorite. It makes me laugh, it makes me hit the pause button and rewind to take notes, it makes me want to write. I have learned so much from JR and all the writers who shared their stories. Thank you!

The Habit is the podcast that got me habituated to podcasts. No podcast I’ve met yet can match the unique, profound, and inspiring thoughts in every single episode of this one. I’ve not only gained courage for my writing (and more book recommendations than I’ll ever be able to explore), but...Read full review »

As a homeschooling mom and a writer, I don’t have many natural opportunities for listening to podcasts, but this is consistently the first one I turn to. Listening to writers talk about writing (and life) is encouraging and frequently makes me want to pick up a pen again. Highly recommend!

Sometimes when I am walking, I smile with all my teeth showing. I laugh. My Mondays inevitably go like this. I wake up, get ready for the day and settle down to work.
