Outstanding content undermined by problematic delivery
No complaints with the CONTENT. Ryan Stitt's podcast content is every bit as good as Dominic Perry's History of Egypt and Mike Duncan's History of Rome podcasts. I can give no higher praise. However, Mr. Stitt READS his content in such a bizarre, unnatural cadence that it makes following his thoughts frustrating. I feel like I'm being forced to re-assemble a string of audio sentence fragments back into the very coherent thoughts Stitt has written. I often find myself frustrated to the point I think, "Aaargh, I wish this was a BLOG so I could just read it myself!" I'd also echo other's critiques that Stitt's pronunciation needs substantial improvement. Mispronunciations do tend to undermine a person's claim to authority on a subject. Even so, Stitt's content is sufficiently good that I'd recommend to people who want a quality overview of this area of ancient history.Read full review »

More reviews of The History of Ancient Greece
Ryan has a great podcast. It's a perfect parallel to the History of Rome that fans of the classical world have been have been waiting for!

Cons: - Jarring pronunciation. It might just be my own ear, but his way of saying 'burial' drives me nuts. And every...Read full review »
