“I went through LCS training and regret it. The school supports coaching people on their “thoughts” about trauma, discrimination, and nervous system responses (overwhelm is not “indulgent,” it’s a physiological response). It does not teach coaches what to do if a client is in an abusive relationship or thinking of self-harming, which is coaching 101. Master coach instructors use triggering language in their feedback. Yet the school doesn’t ask for feedback from students at any point.
Albert Ellis and Aaron Beck created “the model” (it’s the basis of cognitive behavioral therapy). And they were the first to say that CBT is not a tool that works for everything … which is the opposite of what LCS teaches.”
