“Engrossing podcast but not great journalism. Padding out and conflating a story of a young man who clearly took a wrong turn figuratively and literally. Haven’t we all at some time in our lives yet usually survive to tell that near miss ‘clifftop’ story into middle age. The poor guy clearly met a local, went to have some fun (ie maybe smoke, and explore, just be 19!) climbed a hill and fell into the seas and was washed out and maybe the local fell too. A terrible senseless tragedy. If the companion were homeless then no one would be looking for them...
I don’t like the way the police are treated as if they somehow not doing enough. The searchers (don’t they have day jobs?) finding shoes need to realise that Theo is one of many people who go missing every year and to me his case is very much cut and dry merely from the last known gps info about where he ended up.
I feel terribly terribly sorry for his parents sister family and friends back home. It’s easy for the locals to take on this ‘cause’ and continue to encourage hope ... makes me mad really.
The Oz - ok podcast but I think you should be questioning the motives of the searchers rather than following up conspiracy theories. I’m enjoying it in a rather queasy voyeur sense. Cmon you can do better than this.”
