“I was thrown out of cheeky monkeys in 2008 when I was backpacking. I’d had 1 beer, had just bought my second and was just stood chatting - there was no pre drinking this night either. (I remember because I was hungover and struggling to get back on the ales)
A youngish bouncer sort of hovered past as if he was making his mind up on who to talk to then said he wanted to speak to me outside, as I left the front he told me I’d had enough for that night.
I think they do it to let more people in and keep the queue down - I leaned that the kicking out policy was known back then, it was indiscriminate and it was always lads unless a girl got visibly very drunk.
People getting randomly kicked out was a known thing so I just wanted to mention this as it could happen to the quietest of guys - it is not a reflection on behaviour beforehand.”
