Lots of love, and a little criticism.
I love this podcast very much! So many episodes have been so informative and helped me learn from voices I wouldn’t hear if I didn’t listen to this. I would love to hear from more black women as guests! I specifically love Liz and appreciate how she delves into the current chatter of the times, and the nuances of all of it, and what it says about all of us. I appreciate Jamie’s perspective, but his commentary (sometimes) I find to be limiting. I think sometimes he may not REALLY be listening enough to truly understand what Liz is saying, and when Justin isn’t there for extra support, this can be frustrating. He gets caught up in language and creating a more digestible narrative for him or men like him, when I think it’s just important to maybe step back and let Liz speak, bc clearly she understands complexities of things I don’t think Jamie always does. I don’t know how Liz holds so much space for him to correct and minimize her -almost always- very valid and correct view points. No hate to Jamie at all just something I’ve noticed throughout that is limiting the depth of conversation. I’ve had many relationships with men where I took their kind words for face value, while the entirety of what they were actually saying was limiting and harmful to my experience. It’s something I hope we as an audience can spare Liz from, even though Jamie has all the best of intentions. I don’t expect him to always agree nor do I want everyone to, but I think Jamie needs to meet Liz half way. I say this with love and admiration to everyone involved in creating this podcast that the world desperately needs at the moment. Thank you.

Thank you, Justin for having Alok on your show. Their episode was so necessary and enlightening, even for me, someone in the LGBTQ+ community. There were so many take aways from what They had to say and share regarding Their experience. I get it so deeply on many levels and connected with part of...Read full review »

I have loved every episode I’ve listened to. I am a woman who was raised by a sexist dad who I was super close to. I am now raising a toddler boy and have the opportunity to mentor many teenage boys. I’ve known that toxic masculinity is in the air we breathe but I haven’t known exactly what it is...Read full review »

I understand the premise and intention of the show and really love the guests but tbh Justin and Jamie can be pretty cringey. Justin puts his guests on pedestals and genuflects so much so that it comes off as insincere. Jamie misses the point sometimes and talks over Liz who should have a podcast...Read full review »
