Love the podcast and information shared, and am an ongoing listener however the latest addition of gambling ads I find offensive and if they continue will stop listening.

Quite an interesting podcast but clearly stinks of Murdoch bias and misinformation against EVs etc. What other agendas ar they slipping in?

Very informative.

TLDR: Another Murdoch Empire stooge editorialising on right wing politics… I think I’m going to call time on this version of the Money Cafe now. It’s much less entertaining without Alan Kohler and has turned into a bit of a James Kirby waffle-fest. He brings on guests but often interrupts them to...Read full review »

Pretty basic and lacks any charm since Alan left. Seems it’s being aimed toward people with considerable wealth only now. Who aren’t very financially literate. Unfortunately most of the talking points just aren’t even valid if you aren’t in the top tax brackets… and if you’re a financially...Read full review »

This is a very easy to listen to podcast tackling a broad range of financial topics and with different guests. The once a week property topic is a particular favourite. I look forward to new episodes every week. Well done!!
Lil.cookie via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 08/16/23
The show now has two episodes a week - Tuesday is property and Thursday is investing. I have no interest in investing in property so don’t listen to the Tuesday show. Thursday however is regular listening for me and I find the show is interesting and informative. James covers a lot of investing...Read full review »

Thanks for the pod. My favourite finance podcast. Good variety covering so many things.
GarthQ via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 07/18/23
This used to be my favourite podcast but something has changed since it was rebranded. James sounds distracted and often downright bored and some of his ‘experts’ who themselves aren’t adding anything to the conversation. The most recent episode with the buyer’s agent was appalling. Sweeping...Read full review »

I have found this very informing and following current day topics. Learning a lot too.

After some years of following and enjoying this podcast it has come to the point where James needs to decide if he is a journalist or lobbyist. While some opinion pieces are acceptable unabashed use of this podcast to earn brownie points in the Murdoch echo chamber has become ridiculous. Bye!

I enjoy the show and the guests, but they have a real blindspot to the benefits of retail super and wrap accounts as opposed to industry funds and self manage super funds. Need to look at benefits. this includes fees are larger. Super balances tapped and claiming a franking credits like a self...Read full review »

Refreshingly unbiased weekly reports. I used to listen to both money cafes however the other would not stop roping their very clear political bias into discussions. Keep up the good work.

With that is happening with credit Swisse etc all we get is effectively an ad to discuss the premiers housing model. This not what an independent finance program should be doing rather a critical assessment of the premier’s proposal with a housing expert. Might as well have Dan Andrews on next on...Read full review »

I really really wanted to listen to this but the jazzy sounds accompanying the intro (or does the music go there whole time ?!) are super loud and distracting for me. Shame.

Flippant and foolish answers to valid questions. Knowledge of host is highly questionable

A shallow and rather silly finance program. Much better elsewhere.

Host James Kirby’s program has an excellent format as the show now has a regular cycle of special guests who bring an impressive array of financial expertise. The content is made even more interesting with the show now also including more listener questions, with both James and his guest...Read full review »

This show has been invaluable for myself to learn and understand the financial system especially in the Australian context. Can’t recommend it highly enough!

Average host. The guy who fills in when James is away is 1000 times better. James should let his guests speak.

Great knowledgeable industry guests every week. Keep up the great work JK. It’s significantly more informative than the name copied podcast.

What a shame you have resorted to gambling sponsorship. I would tolerate most of your ads during the breaks, but not these. Your podcast deserves better.

Good show but betting ads during an interview with a financial councillor about problem gambling 🤦‍♂️

It’s easy to listen to and follow. It has relevant topics. I love the way it’s framed. I’m in the process of becoming financially literate and this show has discussed things I was wondering about. I have not encountered ‘right wing nut jobs’ like other reviews have suggested. It seems quite...Read full review »

A good summary of current economic and financial topics . But presenter has to stop interrupting his guests ! It’s so frustrating for them and audience . Also , there seems to be no preparation for , and hence , no answers to audience questions

Alan Kohler has his own Money Cafe Eureka Report. Follow it! It’s great. Better than these right wing nut jobs.

Seriously you James Gerard thinks Australian voters just decided to change government for the sake of it. He must be Mr Murdoch’s son in law. How on earth can this man be a journalist and not know what happened in the last election?

Just a massive thank you for holding the show. Your commentary fills in so many blanks. Fantastic guests and great weekly Q&A

Love listening to Mr Kirby’s Irish lilt, filling my ears with caramelly financial goodness. As an expat from GB&I living in Australia, I adore the odd savagely witty quip that’s dropped with aplomb; really makes my day. Thank you James, keep up the good work. Really great show, relevant to Australian investor’s. I the show HS changed since Alan left but it still a great show with industry leading commentators
Philthy Philbert via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 01/19/22
Love the show, very informative but I wish James would let his guests speak without constantly interrupting them. You can almost feel the frustration from some guests as they are cut off mid sentence.
gavmit via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 11/05/21
If interrupting guests were an Olympic Sport, James would win gold every time.
inquisito65 via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 11/03/21
Unfortunately, I think Alan had lost his way, heavily influenced by The New Daily culture, the Unions and MMT. Love James independent analysis.

Still good but not as good as having James and Alan together
Stiches23 via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 08/11/21
Great to have Roger M on the podcast! He brings a broad knowledge & a quiet intelligence to his commentary on finance and it’s always interesting to hear his take on the present situation & his understanding of where markets and individual stocks are heading.

I used to enjoy the banter between these two and the counterpoints provided by differing views. Now as it is engulfed by The Australian very concerned will change for the worse as know diverse opinion not encouraged.

Hi I am a 40 year corporate female with a high income and multiple investments. I thought I would be your target market but today’s show featured an ad for Love and Rockets (a Brisbane strip club). Really?? Who thought that was good marketing?!

I get a lot of time to listen to podcasts in my job, driving around, fixing machines etc. And this is always one of the highlights of the week. The tone is pretty jovial and listeners have plenty of chance to get involved. They seem to just want the best outcomes for the common man.
