A Beautiful World of Yesterday
New Century (starting with The Cartographer's Handbook, something of a "What if WORLD WAR Z were about werewolf-like creatures and also 150 years ago?") is the story of the Reunified States of America struggling to piece together a nation torn apart by the Wendigo. These monstrous creatures - once men, no transfigured into flesh-eating nightmares - have ravaged an antebellum US and left chaos in their wake. To fight both the supernatural threat and to reestablish a semblance of civilization, the Cartographers map the land, set up telegram stations, reunite scattered settlements with the new government, and spread valuable information about the ferocious creatures. Alex Shaw (of the deeply entertaining Digital Drift podcast), along with a host of actors, has created a fascinating alternate history - part horror, part steampunk, part dimension-ripping science fiction - for an America that never was. Fans of genre audio dramas like Welcome to Nightvale or the ARG "I Love Bees" will find a diverse cast of strong characters, carefully crafted tone, and inventive lore to go with a compelling yarn.

The characters are both relatable and heroic, providing a look not...Read full review »

Currently most of the way through “Tiger’s Eye” and absolutely loving it. I’d never listened to an audiobook with a full cast and music before so it took some getting used to, but the attention to detail here adds so much to the sense of immersion, even if it requires you to pay more attention...Read full review »
