“Many authors struggle to create one believable world, but Alex Shaw manages to create several.
Wether it be the meticulously researched alternate history of post civil war America in "The Cartographer's Handbook" and "Secret Rooms", or the imaginative, yet consistent, alternate evolutionary world of "Tiger's Eye", the storytelling and world building of this audio drama, cupeled with a fantastic use of music and sound effects, pulled me into it's multiverse and immersed me in it.
However, the worlds and lore are only part of the draw. The characters who inhabit them are equally well drawn. Each with their own complex inner life and motivation, excellently performed by an extensive voice cast.
Their stories had me laughing, crying, jumping in fright, and occasionally, fist pumping.
If you like things like "His Dark Materials", "Firefly", or "Avatar", (the Nickelodeon cartoon, not the movie by James Cameron) you owe it to yourself to listen to New Century.
...(actually, "Tiger's Eye" is like a much better version of Jim Cameron's Avatar.)”
