Ryan B. Patrick is not experienced enough to host this show. His radio voice is lacking any kind of enunciation and his volume dips down so low you often can’t hear him. He resorts to juvenile slang to praise authors and seems like an unprepared student trying to bluff his way through every...Read full review »

I never miss an episode and often order the books based on your conversation. I just ordered The Theory of Crows. Your avid listener, Verla k

I’ve just driven from the Yukon to Saskatchewan and since radio reception is not possible through much of the northern portion (and I only listen to CBC), I put on The Next Chapter. Podcasts I’m glad I downloaded (though I didn’t remember I had!). Saved my tofu, I’ll tell you. So great,...Read full review »

Shelagh: make them stop running the trailer for « Limited Capacity » 2-3 times during your show. It’s driving this listener insane!!! The actual show content is illuminating and often moving.

I love Shelagh’s interviews. I don’t like the way the producers cut in with ads about other CBC shows. Sometimes they cut in in mid sentence, and they do it at a volume that is much greater than Shelagh’s volume. This would be five stars but for the CBC’s shabby production values.

I find it hilarious the pats on the back that white Canadians give each other for being “woke” and encourage the same to read anti racist literature. Andrew Whiteman was personally responsible for my having to redo my two week long teaching practicum because his students connected with me more...Read full review »

So happy to finally be able to listen to one of my (and Canada’s, I’m sure!) favourite radio shows once again in its entirety via podcast! How I had missed Shelagh’s intriguing and intelligent guests over the past year(?) as I could never find the full episodes on CBC’s listening app no matter...Read full review »

I’m a Canadian living abroad and listening to the Next Chapter podcast each week was a great pleasure. I’m so disappointed that they’ve changed them so we can only hear one author interview. No panel. No ‘if you liked this...’. I miss it terribly. Update! They changed it back - so happy to have...Read full review »

I have been listening to this podcast for years, and it is such a treat when I come across it on the radio. This podcast lets me listen to it anytime I want! I particularly like Proust’s questionnaire, and it has inspired questions that I ask my own students. Keep up the great work!

Thank you Shelagh Rogers, contributors, staff and crew. I have laughed out loud so many times, like the one I heard today about good manners in Erasmus’s time; or shed a tear at an intimate story like hearing some of the Indigenous stories; or reflected on deep heartfelt experiences like Louise...Read full review »

I always look forward to a new episode of The Next Chapter. Shelagh has an ease and thoughtfulness about her interviewing that just plain delights me. And a sense of humor and proportion that leaves me feeling inspired and better about life in this world. Yes, I do mean all of that.  Found The...Read full review »

I missed Shelagh Rogers when she left "Here's to You" --thought she had retired completely. What a delight to find her on iTunes, with a great CBC podcast -- i.e. re-broadcast from ??? -- about writers, writing, books and bookstores. As a bibliophile in many interpretations of the...Read full review »
