Only issue is the sound design, I find it a bit too on the nose and at times spoiling the atmosphere instead of enhancing it. It’s not subtle at all and a bit unimaginative. For example someone says farm- sound library pigs noises inserted, they says baby- library cries inserted all in a clumsy...Read full review »

Absolutely loving this podcast- the pacing is great and the way it’s set out is easy to follow. Really sad what happened to the families in The Tribe, great production I’m really enjoying the listen. Thank you

Binged all episodes in one day after seeing Tim Elliott with Andrew Gold.

An invaluable insight into how wonderful humans ended up trapped in a cult that stole their future. Our vulnerabilities are what makes us easy targets for such organisations. The financial side is mind blowing while the members who left were penniless. I recall Children of God when I was in my...Read full review »

I couldn’t finish this podcast, although it was well done, I found I just couldn’t listen any more about these horrible people who beat their children to almost death. All because they didn’t want to burn in hell. Well I hope they all do burn in hell for being such idiots.

And I hate how catchy that song is😅

Superb! I could listen to this forever. So well and cohesively reported, story flies smoothly, would love even more talk of the psyche of cult and being indoctrinated. Great work!

Very confusing how this podcast plays random episodes of a different series between episodes..

Really interesting listen. 5 stars and I can imagine all the 1 star reviews are from cult members

Such a horrible story told in a beautiful way. I’m shocked to believe this has been happening under our noses! This podcast is told in an excellent way that keeps you engaged throughout.

My hope is that my brother-n-law will use his position to finally free the Twelve Tribe members from the founding leader’s hurtful teachings. Not one human being on this earth knows what’s best for another and intimidation of the vulnerable through control and fear is abuse. So many...Read full review »

This is an appalling expose of cult psychology. Tim is a wonderful host of this podcast and the weaving in of victims voices is powerful. The shocking depths of abuse in particular against children is horrific. The damn theme song is now in my head after bingeing the series and is causing me...Read full review »

I’ve been hooked since episode one. Horrifying story but definitely needs to be talked about.
lfisette via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 01/17/23
This series has really captivated me, not only from the storyline itself but the narration and witness/victim testimony was both brutal, shocking but also so very enlightening and shed the light on this outwardly-seeming benign cult that is so much more sinister. An excellent pod!

I’ve been loving this podcast, but episodes 7 and 8 won’t play for me, even though I’ve paid for access. I’m not sure if this is happening for other people, but I hope it’s fixed soon because I’m dying to hear the last two episodes!

I grew up in a cult. And am torn. I was not alone even when I thought I was.

As an expat living in Australia I found this podcast fascinating and well produced. The only thing I would ask to please be edited *please* is the song they sing at the beginning and end of each episode. It’s creepy and almost feels like one is trying to indoctrinate.

This is a very interesting and well researched podcast. I enjoyed listening to it but agree with another reviewer, the occasional sound effects were strange! Still, I look forward to this teams next project

Really interesting listen, very similar to the documentary on Netflix called “Keep sweet & pray” except this happened in Australia!, listening to what these people have gone through with this cult, it’s shocking, although I’m so captivated by this story I can’t stay away!.

Here in Winnipeg MB we have The 12 Tribes. We also used to have a Common Ground restaurant. Every once in a while there are news stories. Mainly regarding children. Good job. Love the story.
ELMKID via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 01/04/23
Find the show really interesting - one question though - has legal action ever been considered against these parents for what they did to their children? How dumb can you be?

The journalists have done a good job in telling the story. Such an interesting topic!
Ania Stepien via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 12/19/22
This is such an interesting story, it does not need crass sound effects. Please focus on equalising volume levels between interviews and narration.
Dumpsterfyr via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 12/19/22
Thank you! Throughly enjoyed every minute. Certainly helps one understand how some people can pray on the vulnerable for their gain. Eye opening for sure. Love and prayers to those who are still fighting the fight.

This is a really intriguing series. I would have given it 5 stars but I find the unnecessary sound effects and music in the cracks round especially episode 4 are way too over the top. They are annoying and distracting and worse when listening through headphones. A good podcast that doesn’t need...Read full review »

Great podcast! Having “lost” my big sister to “The Moonies” many many years ago, education about cults is vital.

Bears witness to the difficult but important fact of how physical violence against children is such a core part of the control in some high demand religions.
