Gotta love listiening to a preview podcast after you know the results! Re FA Cup 1/4 finals and Utd v Liv. When will you be able to see past your anti-Man Utd bias and provide some decent, evidence based analysis. Fanalysts such as Tim Spiers have such a hatred of Utd (he's stated it) that...Read full review »

Bored of hearing the same stories. Here is an unfiltered list of recent topics: Arsenal player, Man U Man U v Liverpool, Man U, Barca, Chelsea, Liverpool, Liverpool v Man City, Liverpool v Man City, Spurs, Man U, Manchester Derby, Title race, Haaland, Everton (wow, something other than the top of...Read full review »

I think we’ve had 4 Man Utd dedicated podcasts recently, three in the past week or so. It used to be really good at looking at all the teams in the premier league. But since they got rid of the “smaller” teams dedicated podcasts the content has gone down hill. Really poor now. You do realise that...Read full review »

Please just stop the random laughing half way through a serious question. And twice as many adverts as any other podcast with the same bloke doin most of em.

Why does it take five minutes for the presenter to stop waffling before presenting the show?
MrMrMrshutuo via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 03/09/24
Don’t understand why they’ve changed the name to the athletic fc just stick to the athletic football podcast. Same for the women’s football podcast, full time Europe makes no sense. Bring back Mark Chapman because the interviews and topics has lost the quality it had.

Tough listen - bring back Dom Bardell. The lead presenter sounds like he should be on CBBC, not funny and no chemistry with the guests. Always found Dom Bardell funny, as well as good content. I Listen to ‘the whoscored’ podcast and so much better.

I refrain from giving this show a five-star rating only because of the weekend preview which is unlistenable. Awful. I haven’t finished a single episode. I loved the odds on last season show (even though I’m not a betting man) and especially the weekend quizzes which I always paused the pod to...Read full review »

With so much rumor and conjecture in the football industry, it’s nice to know there’s a show that just brings you the facts. Bravo, The Athletic.
Adzy1234 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 02/29/24
Not to sound harsh, but this show needs Chappers back as the host. The new host gives kids TV show presenter vibes. This should be a serious podcast based on the level of journalists the athletic has, but it’s becoming the opposite of that. The “fan opinion” element of it all, and the banter...Read full review »

I love Ayo’s energy and enthusiasm - he’s been a great upgrade for the podcast
therojay via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 02/13/24
I find the topics and guests really interesting but the presenter laughing or shouting all the time make it awful. I try to listen and then have to stop. Like the weekend preview though.
Mattyron via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 02/07/24
Some of the more recent reviews are overly harsh, I don’t think Ayo is a bad host but just wish he would stop saying “I was just thinking…” The overall premise and standard remains decent IMO. It’s the weekend preview that’s really gone downhill though - from a must listen to a tough listen....Read full review »

Way better than the garbage you get on TV. It is full of informed and unbiased information and it is my go to football podcast that isn’t specific to my team.

The presenter should be doing kids TV. Insulting.

Akinwolere is unbearable. Isn’t there a children’s football show he could host?
HrryFlwrs via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 12/20/23
Used to like this but wow these blokes never have a laugh. It’s so dry, feels like every episode they play it safe, afraid to show any real personality. Every episode asks a question that nobody who can’t see the future can answer. I’ve moved over to other pods now. Lighten up my dudes!
BlindlightsLax via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 12/18/23
This used to be essential listening. Insightful and with an understated level of base knowledge. Now it’s the podcast I listen to if I’ve listened to all other podcasts on my queue. Superficial and the hosts, although I’m sure vey nice, are really quite bad. Such a shame.

Can the new host please be more serious and stop Laughing through the pod. Not everything is a joke, find the right balance.

Garbage podcast, a bunch of homers who only talk about City and United. Report on the teams with true fans.

Provides good analysis but a lot of cringy jokes make it difficult to listen to. Lawrence was a better presenter last season, showed more knowledge of the game than Ayo

New host seems like a lovely lad, but zero insight, stretches too much to find humour in a subject and really doesn’t need to pronounce names like he is speaking the language . I don’t put on a regional accent when I greet Someone form a different part of the uk or Europe, I’d get told off if I...Read full review »

Reading the title of your latest podcast you want to incite rage in the guise of humour. Maybe realise how important that this is to people. Yes maybe they should do something better with their lives and chill out but it’s keeping you in a job. Maybe be mindful

Last year loved and looked forward to the weekend preview. Athletic did poorly in the transfer window. Hope this is a relegation season and we will have no more silly jokes, time wasting and irrelevant content. Ayo Akinwolere and Manchester United writer Laurie Whitwell make a great team and love listing to them on all thing United Also shout out to Carl Anka the brains and Ian the voice of reason While Andy Mitten is a bit of a Erik ten Hag fan boy

They say they report on the world of football yet every episode is focused on the Premier League. Instead of reporting on news from other big leagues they resort to reporting on dull news from the premier league.

Gone horrifically backwards this year. Chappers and Dan done a far better job on the podcast
McGill1994 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 10/10/23
The format was infinitely better last season, spending three quarters of the podcast talking about 1 game 2 weeks in a row is complete overkill. The previous format worked so much better (almost) even amount of time spoken about 6 games instead of almost the entire show talking about 1 game then...Read full review »

What happened to Dan Bardell? New bloke Ayo just said ‘Vicinious Junior’ and you kept it in the edit. Bring back regional accents and people who know what they’re talking about. It’s also annoying the way he tries to pronounce foreign names as if he can speak their language.
Galloyhoy via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 10/07/23
Pod is great with Ayo. But please stop Adam Leventhal cringy, forced “banter”, loves the sound of his voice, takes 5 minutes to ask a question. I can’t be the only one to notice that. Jesus.
Brent Meister General via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 10/06/23
Firstly, the Monday to Thursday content is great and the new presenter is excellent. But the weekend preview is painful to listen to. Last year’s presenters were much more engaging.
Jimbo43ty via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 10/03/23
If your pundits feel that only Spurs vs Liverpool is worth discussing or looking forward too, they really shouldn’t be on a preview of the weekend. Results over the weekend have shown that there was some interest to be had in other fixtures!! Bring back Dan Bardell and co.

Ayo is a decent replacement for Mark Chapman on the daily show, but please bring back Dan Bardell for the weekend preview. I really looked forward to the weekend preview when Dan hosted it, but it’s pretty much unlistenable now. Way too much crap banter.

This used to be my go to football pod but since the shuffle of personnel for this season it’s really gone downhill. Lack of knowledge, craft and rapport has made it amateurish and a hard listen. What a pity.

Returned to this after three years and while disappointed to find Mark Chapman has gone, I’m more pleased Dan Bardell is no longer on it (did you know he was a Villa fan? He never mentioned it) Enjoying it again and the more in-depth aspect to the stories
