Love listening to Ione and Gina chat about the latest social topics, pop culture and more serious or feminist issues etc on the pod. Their dialogue is fun, insightful and offers a critical perspective on thought provoking issues with just the right amount of context and detail behind every...Read full review »

If youโ€™re going to listen to a podcast, make it this one! Finally women that talk about pop culture moments, beauty standards and more who arenโ€™t afraid to state an opinion and give discourse. Itโ€™s definitely not a surface level podcast and itโ€™s genuinely relatable. Love, love, love!

Iโ€™ve been listening to the polyester podcast for a few years, but this episode on personalised health was so perfect, I had to finally leave you girlies a comment. I have a few random health conditions and didnโ€™t ever expect to see a podcast that perfectly discussed these new privatised health...Read full review »

Its wonderful that this podcast manages to provide accessible and intellectually stimulating discourse on pop culture topics. I appreciate the way that the hosts zoom out to the bigger picture of how these topics impact society offline. Iโ€™m really glad I found it, and Iโ€™m enjoying working my way...Read full review »

The hosts always talk about such interesting topics, they do their research, reference lots of sources and have a great chemistry BUT I wish they'd fix their audio! The bad sound quality steal so much from the acutual content. What a shame. I hope they will manage to get some good mics and...Read full review »

What a relief to find these two. Between their love of Poor Things and disdain for Saltburn, I knew I had found my people within my first few episodes. This podcast is so well researched and always has really nuanced takes that donโ€™t feel like they are just regurgitating what everyone else is saying about pop culture. Love that thereโ€™s disagreement and discussion. Poor Things episode was especially good and got me hooked!!

I love the topics, how well theyโ€™re researched and I particularly love when Gina and Ione pretend bicker - itโ€™s always funny and very obviously said in jest. I first heard about Polyester during my undergrad in Creative Writing (TEN YEARS AGO!) and have just gotten back into listening to their podcasts in the last week. Adore hearing about dupe Stanley Cups and how we donโ€™t know what Taylor Swiftโ€™s favourite food is.

From the titles & descriptions I expected a lot more. Instead episodes are poorly researched with basic errors, constant mispronunciations and generally consistent of them reading someone elseโ€™s work on the topic rather than having their own research/angle. Sound quality is also terrible.

I stopped listening on my first episode where Taylor Swift was heavily criticised for daring to live her life when atrocities are happening elsewhere. Unless Iโ€™ve missed something and Taylor is personally responsible for Middle East conflict, this seems very unfair and hardly feminist.

I understand the angle of this podcast is to critique online culture, trends and art. But it is rare (if ever?) that the hosts applaud any of the subjects in their podcasts. i agree with Ioneโ€™s take in the stanley cup episode. most consumer products are really selling you a solution to a problem that doesnโ€™t exist. itโ€™s all in the name of convenience, something that just accumulates and pollutes the earth when we couldโ€™ve lived a very functional existence without it....Read full review »

I love this podcast and the topic choices are great. They feel relevant and are thought provoking, while not just rehashing other content out there. However I think recently the conversation is difficult to follow and ideas donโ€™t seem fully thought through, and it often quite snarky.
