The Pluse and WHYY illegally fired one of their staff for having his own stand up show. Then they wasted hundreds of thousands of dollars of listener’s donated funds on lawyers to fight this. Well, WHYY and The Pulse lost! Amazingly disappointing that an NPR member station would spend its funds...Read full review »

Of all the podcasts I subscribe to (mostly public radio shows, but not exclusively), “The Pulse” is the one I find consistently interesting and worth hearing to the episode’s end. The subject matter is fresh, even unexpected at times, and well produced. The host, Maiken Scott, is easy to listen...Read full review »

I started listening years ago, the topics are always interesting, showing things under various lights. It’s been almost a year that the quality has declined. Each story told to illustrate a topic drags on for 10-15 min before getting to the point, not bringing anything interesting to the table...Read full review »

Thank you for sharing Jessie’s story. This could have been my story…except my husband has stayed by my side throughout my MS journey. I went to Mexico in April 2017 for HSCT. I had been living with MS for over 16 years and didn't fit the trial criteria in the US. There are thousands of...Read full review »

The Pulse is now my favorite science podcast. Radio Lab is next. Funny, I majored in English and taught it. However when it came time to declare majors, I chose between biology and English. So this podcast is helping fulfill my need tone up on science information. Finding the Pulse this year,...Read full review »

Edit 10/23/20: Please LABEL your reruns as such! Today’s episode is a rerun, and it would have been so simple to state in the show notes, “This episode originally aired 3/13/20.” I like that each episode is a number of mini-topics reported by different people under one theme. I don’t like the...Read full review »

This show is incredible! I’ve learned so much from the many different episodes. I’ve lea her about experiments, animals, movements and psychical phenomena I never knew about before. I love how each episode is broken into little “mini stories” made by different reporters, though they’re all...Read full review »

Great show but with just a couple voice training classes with a speech pathologist you could learn to sustain your breath and greatly improve the tone of your speaking voice. Good luck.

This episode was a non-sequitur for the vast majority of people in blue collar work where “radical non-compliance” is in no way an option. Tech hasn’t changed the Taylorism dominating their work lives, just the means and the new reach into the slacker-privileged white collar world. Also, the...Read full review »

Always interesting. But in the intro, there is a sound that can only be described as “slapping a wet fish”. Can you kill that?

I really enjoy The Pulse with Maiken Scott. There’s no other show out there that is really taking deep audio dives into the health and science world, and that’s probably for the best — I mean nobody could do it as well as The Pulse does! Highly recommend to everyone I talk to!

There is some really great storytelling on this show. I love how the reporters try to find ways in to stories that yield surprises. You can tell that they are learning something, too, not just us, which is more engaging than experts lecturing us from the ivory tower.
