Description
In The Ref Show studio this week Alan Biggs was joined by former Sheffield Wednesday legends Gary Megson and David Hirst to round up another weekend of football in the Premier League and Football League as well as the FA Cup Quarter Finals. There was discussion on the game at the Bet365 Stadium where Stoke narrowly lost 2-1 to Sam Allardyce's Everton but should Cenk Tosun's opening goal have been disallowed, and how did the referee manage the reckless tackle that led to Charlie Adam's dismissal?  Elsewhere Mike Dean took charge of Huddersfield's 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace with Christian Benteke aggrieved at not being awarded a penalty when he was pulled in the area whilst in the Football League there was debate on games at Sheffield United, Brentford, Sunderland, and Leeds United who hosted Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday. In the FA Cup, VAR was on duty for three out of the four games and the panel were able to reflect back on a relatively quiet weekend for the system, with just the one incident of note at Swansea where a goal was ruled out for offside with no intervention.
