Mark Halsey & Roger Dilkes - 5th March 2018
Listen now
Description
In The Ref Show studio this week Alan Biggs was joined by former Premier League referees Mark Halsey and Roger Dilkes to look back at the weekend's football action in the Premier League and The Football League. There's also discussion on the announcement by IFAB this weekend that VAR will be introduced into the Laws Of The Game. After two months use in England, the controversial system has caused many debates across the country and with this historic landmark, the landscape of football going forward is no doubt going to change. In the Premier League there was plenty to cover with decisions at Anfield, King Power Stadium and the AMEX to dissect whilst the big tie of the weekend saw Man City defeat Chelsea at the Etihad, but should Oleksandr Zinchenko have been red carded after a challenge on Victor Moses. Elsewhere in the Football League there were plenty of postponements with the country hit by snow last week, but two Lancashire derbies did go ahead. First at Ewood Park there was a top of the table clash with Wigan pegging league leaders Blackburn back to 2-2 but referee Geoff Eltringham came in for criticism on two goals; whilst how did Peter Bankes get on when he took charge of Preston's 3-1 away at Bolton.
