Keeping it Real
I've been listening to The Shakes since it was The Cocktail Napkin a few years ago. The current incarnation of the show features web design and marketing veterans Jeremy Fuska, Pat Piper and Joy Moeller. The Shakes is a show for creatives, but doesn't sound like the 87 bajillion other dev-design-creative podcasts out there. It feels like you're just listening in on a real conversation with friends in a bar. Jeremy is the mellow one, Pat brings the witty sarcasm, Joy is purely entertaining. Check out episode 41, Encyclopedia Brown of Crap, it's pure f*cking gold. I give The Shakes my highest recommendation because there is zero pretentiousness and 100% kick-assery.

The tone of this show is reminiscent of the self-congratulatory air of any given special interest show on NPR, but with 'swears.' Nothing about this discussion offers any real information about depression or suicide, just examples of 'bummers' by people who are doing just fine. Very gross.

Joy, you’re the best part of the show and I luv you. UR so hot. And funny. The two sausages are okay too.

I really appreciate the improved audio quality in this new season of Jeremy Fuksa. Joy Moeller is a great interviewer and has created one of the best design podcasts.
