The Lone Gunman to SGU's X-Files
Not literally a spin-off. But the show's unstructured style & Richard's showmanship / stage performance approach to hosting makes for a podcast that i think can be best described as "what would happen if Evan & Bob did an SGU spinoff without Steve, Jay & Rebecca to groan at Evan's silly jokes & ring master moments (which are great in moderation & can be very funny) & at Bob's long, yet intelligent rants. Guest host Dr Rachie Dunlop is a standout, she's extremely knowledgable. If you have a hankering for Aussie skepticism, I'd recommend this show. But it could do with a more formal structure, editing & a gallery of groaning co-hosts to keep things on track & really take it to the next level. The show always covers great information & the hosts are good, but there's room for improvement without turning it into a carbon copy of SGU & keeping some of it's own unique charms.Read full review »
