One of the best podcasts in the universe
I stumbled upon The Skeptic's Guide to the Universe back in 2008, and let me tell you, it was like finding a treasure chest filled with critical thinking gems! If you're tired of pseudoscience, alien abductions, and Bigfoot sightings (spoiler: it's probably just your neighbor in a gorilla suit), this podcast is your antidote to the weird and wacky. First off, let's talk about the fantastic presenters. They're like the Avengers of skepticism, minus the capes and with a bonus dose of humor. Steve Novella is the calm and collected leader, the Tony Stark of the group. Jay Novella is the wise-cracking Hawkeye, always ready with a quip and a skeptical eyebrow. Bob, with his uncanny ability to turn any mundane task into an epic adventure, and Dr Cara, who brings the perfect blend of intelligence, curiosity, and wit to everything she does, not forgetting her infectious laughter . And then there's Evan Bernstein, the group's Bruce Banner—smart, thoughtful, and you'd better not make him angry unless you want a scientific smackdown. Over the years, these guys have become my virtual best friends. I have only recently met them in person, but after listening to them dissect everything from UFO sightings to homeopathy, I feel like I know them better than my actual neighbors (who, incidentally, have a surprising number of gorilla suits). The Skeptic's Guide to the Universe is not just a podcast; it's an education, a weekly dose of sanity in a world gone mad with pseudoscience. I now navigate life armed with critical thinking skills, ready to debunk the next conspiracy theory that comes my way. Thanks to the SGU crew, I can confidently say that my baloney detection kit is top-notch. So, here's to another decade of skeptical adventures with the SGU crew! May your wit be sharp, your logic flawless, and your debunking powers unmatched. If you haven't jumped on the skeptical bandwagon yet, what are you waiting for? It's like a rollercoaster for your brain, minus the motion sickness and with a side of laughter. Trust me; your inner skeptic will thank you!Read full review »

This show is a textbook example of what a podcast should be: thought provoking, entertaining, not over or under produced, and intriguing. If my friends and I sat around a microphone once a week, I can only hope we would sound this entertaining and thougtful. It is one of the few shows that...Read full review »

The reason I started listening to this podcast was that I was hoping to find something that would make me laugh with its complete avoidance of reality. I was wayyy off base in my assumption that skeptics were misinformed outcasts of society as some television shows paint them. The Members of this...Read full review »

This is truly the top of the pile of skeptical podcasts. Every week they provide insight into topics that I am interested in, but perhaps lack the education and resources to research myself. They are able to get fantastic interviews with people, but I've noticed that even the shows without...Read full review »
