“My husband has a psychology background (was in a clinical psych PhD program for 4 years) so he knows a fair amount about psychology/therapy/etc and had asked me for years to read his DBT manual (the same manual this podcast goes off of) because I was terrible to him in arguments, don’t handle criticism (from him) well and rarely took accountability for my actions. Arguments always escalated and it was getting to the point where we would have weekly 4+ hour long arguments (not even exaggerating here) and I was worried it would never get better. I knew what my issues were but I wasn’t able to stop myself in the moment from getting defensive, making excuses, or getting mean. (Bah!) Finally, I found this podcast (intended to send it to my cousin who has bipolar to help her) but started listening to it, for “the heck of it!” Oh. My. God. What a game changer. I LOVE the hosts, they talk through the therapy concepts and make it relatable, and honestly I go to it now when I feel like I’m getting stressed out or want to understand the “other person’s side” if I’m in an argument or have a disagreement with someone. With this year (COVID), I think we could all use a little therapy and DBT. But wow, since listening to this podcast, my husband and I RARELY argue. I think we had one fight that lasted under 2 hours in over 2 months... that’s honestly insane! He can’t believe after all his training and explaining of concepts to me, that just finding the right podcast/modality to have someone else explain the concepts to me was all it took! (Ha, ha!) I can’t say enough about this podcast. I make sure I listen to at least 3-4 episodes per week, usually I listen to it once per day though. I will forever recommend it and I hope the hosts never stop doing what they’re doing. They’re incredible and changed my life for the better. Thank you again, from a lifelong fan <3 P.S. my husband thanks you guys, too ;)”
