An enduring classic
I’ve been listening to this show since just before the 2012 season, when my then boyfriend, now husband, introduced me to it. It’s been a staple in our household ever since. Three things make this show stand the test of time: 1. Producing - from the beginning, the audio quality of this show has been phenomenal. The quality from a production standpoint is a point of pride for these guys and it shows. Especially in the early podcasting days when this was a rare thing to see. 2. Fun - this show is the definition of having fun with it and not taking yourself or the world too seriously. The amount of jokes and vernacular this podcast has spawned is truly impressive (“Clemsoning”, “PAC12 after dark”, “the Cats bump”, and countless others). The format of the show changes regularly and is never stale, even 10+ year in to listening. 3. Relatable - Dan and Ty as hosts are incredibly relatable people. When I started listening, they were well informed fans who were passionate about the sport, but also not talking heads. Hearing about their lives alongside the podcast (the introduction of Solid Wife Kate, Dan having a baby, Ty’s new dog, the time when Dan did the show out of the clo-ffice before COVID was even a thing). They’re the guys you feel like you can get entirely too nerdy about the sport with in the office break room (be it specific games, transfer portal gossip, coaching changes, or literally anything else beyond actual game play), and feel like familiar friends.

The Solid Verbal is the best sports podcast around. Ty and Dan bring a great mix of college football and pop culture.
