Wonderful, suspenseful storytelling
A crime that took place so many decades ago, but each episode of The Storyteller: Violent Delights, draws you deep into that world, making it feel current and immediate. Also notable - as demonstrated in series 1 also - is the care that Isla takes to treat each individual as a human being. Even amid the sometimes macabre detail, she always reminds us that there was a wife, a mother, a husband or father involved. Violent Delights, in particular, is a study of character as much as crime. Rather than simply suggesting that ‘evil’ is at play, we see characters fall prey to vices, frailties, and failings - both their own, and fatally, those of others.

This is a heartbreaking podcast that is told with such sensitivity. Really gripping from the start. My heart goes out to the real family and friends involved.
