Not Investigative Enough
Utilizes too much “newspeak” and doesn’t give enough time to the important stories it gives an entire 8 minutes to, after intro and ads. When the topic is of personal interest to the host, much more passion and enthusiasm is given to those stories. This is, of course, at the expense of equally important stories, that are often being left up to “experts” and “authorities,” whether capable or prepared to provide adequate comment or information on the topic, or not. Minimization and misinformation are the result of externalizing the news coverage to any willing commentators. Platforming pitches for insufficient or downright ignorant “solution” for each social problem. This podcast is far from “progressive” and is insincere in it’s goals. Much better podcast before current host. It’s just a centrist corporate mouthpiece that rarely gets it right, and I’m happy to get coverage on these topics on Today in Focus (The Guardian), Post Reports, The Slow Newscast, The Daily (NYT), There Are No Girls on the Internet, The New Abnormal (The Daily Beast), and even other daily NPR podcasts like Here & Now and 1A every chance I get. Every time I try to give this podcast a new go, I find myself getting more upset with the messaging than feeling compassion for the subject matter being covered — and that’s extremely unusual for me. It’s just too corporate and mistakenly depends on political pundits and so-called “experts” to do the reporting for the host. It’s not reporting if no reporting on behalf of the publisher, goes into it.

Moronic liberals don't understand firearms so they think that a weapons appearance actually affects functionality. ...Read full review »

Celeste and John bring their unique style to a show that looks more deeply into TODAYS issues. In the news magazine format, topics are covered more in-depth than any commercial station, and their partnerships place this show on par with NPR News programming.

I like how this show makes us hold compassion for the animal in a situation. I would love to see this podcast push and open itself to indigenous knowledge about animals in the wild. How much of what we know comes from indigenous people who lived nearer to animals than we do now? This is a white...Read full review »
