“Every now and again I'll attempt to engage in discussion with my family and friends about the latest developments in the world of British tennis. Bearing in mind that they're part of the British public whose only real interest in tennis extends to the two weeks of Wimbledon, this can sometimes be difficult.
I started following some tennis players and journalists on Twitter in an attempt to satiate my desire for tennis-talk. When I saw that David Law was doing a podcast I thought what better way to get my tennis fix (and overcome the technophobia that I really shouldn't be afflicted by in my twenties) than to listen to a podcast. Not just a podcast, but a podcast that addresses the issues that I want to hear about in an informed and balanced way. How are the British players getting on? Which of the "big four" is going to prevail? Can anyone else break through? Are Dimitrov/Gulbis ever going to fulfil their potential?
Over the last few years it's struck me that we really are blessed to be witnessing such incredibly skilled athletes battle it out for the biggest prizes in tennis and this podcast means that while my actual family might be largely uninterested until Murray has won Wimbledon, I can tune in to David and Catherine and feel as if I'm part of a tennis family that understands and cares just as much as I do.
