Had hoped to hear an inspiring story of a strong independent educated woman revealing her vulnerability during lockdown yet managing to hold it together and survive. Instead, she settles for an uneducated, uninspiring neighbour just because he happens to be male and available during lockdown,...Read full review »

I love this podcast with its varied and interesting stories. I listen at night in bed - Grace Dents voice is so slow and calm - perfect calm before sleep. Long may it continue.... please!

My favourite podcast, stories of every day people told honestly and open, always interesting, very easy to listen to, love the way it’s done and can’t wait till next episode each week.

This episode was so impactful and intriguing. It gave me a really different perspective , and a different insight to the mental illness. Was curious to know if you have an update on Mayas story and if you would release another podcast about it.

Excellent podcast. Many varied subjects some of which may not initially attract the listener, but each has ended up being a compelling listen. Particularly enjoyed the dementia & farming episodes. Hope there will be more to follow

I have just listened to the unidentified woman episode and felt compelled to write a review. What a desperately sad but fascinating story. Christina is such a remarkable woman with so much care and compassion for what she does. What a moving and well told story. Thank you!

Each episode focuses on a life and an impending event that change that life completely. The show typically looks at how a faceless, amoral State can and does casually disrupt or destroy the lives of its people.

Real life stories told with compassion and honesty. This is the opposite of artificial ‘reality’ TV, participants are treated with respect and kindness. The stories unfold with all the messiness of life. Often beautiful and moving, many of these stories have stayed with me long afterwards.

The premise of this is great and the stories interesting but the host speaks at about 10 words a minute, so patronising and irritating!!

I like everything about this podcast except the sound levels. And the fact that the host's mouth sounds are so audible when she's speaking. It's really distracting and a bit off putting.Read full review »

This is a perfect podcast for me. Fascinating insight into other people's lives, which I find so engaging and well created. The week long special about the woman who's partner went missing is not to be missed. It's sublime.Read full review »

A facinating podcast that beautifully tells the stories of ordinary and interesting people in the UK.

An absolute favorite! These are stories about things you haven't stopped to think about before, because they aren't "hot topics" or frequently heard voices. Really fresh, interesting characters with true stories about their passions and life struggles and challenges. The hosts...Read full review »

Every episode features great stories and the presenter’s style is easy, engaging and different from the usual’ Radio 4 smug presenter style. Great storytelling and always surprising.

The premise of this series is as simple (and sincere) as a college arts project but the length of time taken on each story raises them above amateur into really affecting, genuine portraits of people. A number of episodes brought me to the verge of tears, (although I think the intimacy of hearing...Read full review »

These localised documentaries of everyday people are quite fascinating. I look forward to hearing more. I always like Ms Dent's work and this seems to be a much subtler approach than normal.Read full review »

The stories seem interesting so the podcast has potential to tell the stories of regular people and communities. However they need to sort out their volume levels, the sound is far too quiet. I also don't particularly enjoy the hosts voice, it's somewhat sickly.Read full review »

Really keen to see how this podcast grows. The first episode was really interesting and in a short space of time I was told a lot about what sort of people the subjects were. Excellent.
