“What started as a sincere desire to help morphed into something else. Canadaland broke many stories on this secretive and opaque organization. This podcast dives deeply into the story arc of this charity turned profit machine.
This organization came very close to being gifted a 40+ million contract to doll out almost a billion dollars in Federal funds in Canada. Fortunately journalism uncovered inconvenient facts about the organization's operations and the deal fell through.
It is sad that peoples' desire to do good is monetized and turned into real estate and other assets in a corporate shell game that even the organizational leaders can't explain.
This is a textbook case for supporting real journalism.
