Testament to the bravery, courage, tenacity and guts of this mother if a murdered child who was not listened to by police, and mothers everywhere who are not listened to. Excellent journalism from Tortoise and Julie Bindel, this is extremely well-told and clear to follow story-telling with heart...Read full review »

It’s such a sad story on so many levels……can’t believe that the media and police were so cruel to the mum.

But unfortunately it’s hosted by an absolputely repugnant hate monger. Such a shame Tortoise couldn’t find a reputable journalist to tell Nikki’s story.

I binged this over the Christmas period and was so moved by the two powerful stories of the mothers featured, their strength and determination. I was also angered by the way that judgements made about people on low incomes essentially led to perpetrators of violence to women and girls being able...Read full review »

I’ve never been moved to write a review before but Sharon/Mum worked so hard in the only way she could, to fight the prejudice and bias against her by the authorities, to find who murdered her little girl. Society needs to learn from this and do better…..

…good narration, but it was really difficult to understand Nikki’s mother when she spoke. Her accent of course, has a bearing, but trying to figure out what she was saying was hit and miss at best.

I’m sure this is Julie bindel reporting on this case, I’d recognise that voice anywhere. What a remarkably heartbreaking case and so well presented, sensitive and factual.

Really enjoyed this, such a heartbreaking story but fascinating to listen to how the mother persevered to get justice for her little girl.

A podcast that really brings out the emotional struggle of a woman who was so unfairly vilified and dismissed because she was a single mother and poor. A justice system that makes the loss of a bereaved mother worse is totally rotten. A difficult story told with sensitivity and thought.

I remembered this case from years back and was shocked at the treatment/ portrayal of the mother in the media. If not for the persistence of the mother the killer may never have been brought to court. Thank you to Julie .

Remarkable podcast - highlighting the failure of police, their bigotry against women and families of little means - Sharon Henderson is an unbelievable woman of strength, love and determination - that determined nature was to bring justice for her daughter. Love to Sharon and her family and may...Read full review »

This story is heartbreaking & infuriating in that yet again a working class woman whose daughter was murdered in the most horrific manner was treated like dirt, her bravery in not going away even going as far to get repeatedly arrested just to get attention for or an update on her daughters...Read full review »

Clear account of a heartbreaking failure by the police, right from the start.

The story is told in scatter shot style. There’s very little cohesion and it’s difficult to follow. Also some of the participants have heavy accents which can be really hard to understand. Don’t waste your time listening.

Just listened to your podcasts about David Boyd. You raised some really good issues. My heart goes out to Stacy and her mam and family. Nobody should have had to go through what they did. We saw Boyd in the park near us after at least 6 calls to the police explaining everything to them and what...Read full review »

Julie Bindel was the perfect person to tell the story considering her connection to Sharon and her life’s work committed to women’s safety and justice. She’s NOT anti trans rights - she’s pro women’s rights. She’s not a ‘trans exclusionary feminist’ - she’s a ‘male exclusionary feminist’. If you...Read full review »

Julie is a scintillating narrator as always and particularly insightful on this case due to her 20-year friendship with the victim's mother (and Julie's partner represents the victim's mother in her liaisons with the police over the years whilst seeking justice). The case is...Read full review »

Yet another true crime podcast where the reporter has an agenda and ignores facts of the case if it doesn’t fit the story they want to tell. The evidence was strong towards first suspect. Not just how they looked.

No thank you! Wish more care had gone into who should be telling the stories of women and girls and it certainly shouldn’t be someone who has gone out of their way to victimise trans women, some of the the most vulnerable members of the community!

Julie Bindel is at the top of her form. She knows this stuff and has lived experience of the criminal justice system as it relates to working class women. From the Yorkshire Serial killer to the present day, she is fearless, direct and forensic in her approach. Her voice is vital.

I remember this case so clearly, I remember seeing her little face on the news, heartbreaking. I am so glad Nikki has finally got the justice she deserves, thanks to her Mum. The police should hang their heads in shame that it took so long.
