Imagine if Sufjan Stevens created a podcast about the intricate web of 6th-century Byzantine society. That's how I describe this captivating podcast from the creative mind of host and producer Christine Laskowski. With her amazing songs, clever sonic flourishes, and deeply researched tales,...Read full review »

Big fan of this podcast! Host Christine brings impressive knowledge and an infectious energy to a topic that I didn’t even know i was interested in. Particularly skilled interviewer as shown in episode about textiles. Highly recommend to anyone.

Nice, informative. Turned the speed up to 1.25 for a seemingly more natural diction.

The scoring and sound design is repetitive in a way I don’t love, but the content is very interesting.

Meticulous research, completely original approach — this podcast is my Byzantine Bae now — hilarious bc I didn’t even know I was into this kinda thing. Reminds me of getting sucked into GOT & not being a fantasy fan. It’s stellar storytelling— seriously needs to be a TV series. The only...Read full review »

Waiting for the next episode! I never knew how interested I was in 6th century Byzantium, until now. Christine Laskowski has really done her research here, and shows it off with great jokes and brilliant background music. T&J has got it all, listeners- give it a try!

This podcast has some of the best storytelling that I’ve heard. And the whimsical musical interludes have only added to my enjoyment. I’ve learned much more about Byzantium than I ever expected, and I can’t wait for another episode.

Handling the story of Theodora and Justinian with deep love and humor. The writing makes the byzantine world come alive around you. I especially love how it lets us in on the daily lives of people of the period, while managing to weave the story of an empire. Highly recommended!

This is the best history podcast you will ever listen to! No, seriously. I am not a history buff so I wasn’t expecting to love „T & J“ this much. But its so well-produced, entertaining and spoken in conversational language, that you forget the host is talking about a very long ago time period...Read full review »

This podcast has a fascinating, well researched and very listenable angle on two of the greatest figures of Byzantine history. Well worth a listen!

T&J is a whole new scandalous take on the historic Byzantium period I knew absolutely nothing about! Geese being geese. The origins of the half time show. The invention of dancing bears. The original “scrolling” through less than true historic accounts. Theatre performs deemed as the...Read full review »

Christine’s passion for the topic is evident in this nicely produced story. The love story between T and J is the thread but I learned so much about an era of history that has always been difficult for me to connect with. Highly recommend!

Entertaining podcast portraying the love story of the emperor Justinian and his wife Theodora

Full disclosure: love a historical podcast, knew nothing about Byzantine history. Stumbled upon this because I’d run out of back episodes of Royal Blood and, dare I say, I like this even more! Spectacular telling of the love story of Justinian and Theodora sucked me in immediately with its funny,...Read full review »
