“Love the guests, but it comes down to the show. The Veronica Mars pod doesn’t work as well in terms of what the pilot sets up and where the finale leaves off, but it still made for an interesting conversation.
The central idea is an interesting thought experiment, but I wonder about the “So What?” of it all. Even if guests do feel like they’ve gotten the full experience of the show in watching the first and last episodes, what does that say about the show, everyone involved creatively and critically, and the future of television?
I also wish it was less gamified. The quizzes are kind of cool, but unless there’s someone who adds a lot to the conversation in terms of how stories are made, what’s working in this show vs what’s not, etc. they tend to dominate the pod.
Also, and super nit picky, I want more of the live reacts to the show. It’s really slick editing when they work as well as they do. Really I just want a longer pod. Less quizzes, more conversation, more insight, more clips of how they’re reacting — JUST MORE, ALAN.”
