An Enjoyable Listen
Well-researched, this podcast presents actual news stories from the time of the crime, read at a conversational pace and with enthusiasm. The music has improved of late, with more care taken to match the often somber tone of the stories, and advertisements have been shortened so that the listener doesn't have to fast forward through the first 5 minutes to get to the story. The podcaster has a southern Ohio accent, which (to this northerner) comes across as a drawl; some people like that. One tiny quibble I have is that the podcaster sometimes calls the true crime books he offers on his website "novellas." Novellas are, by definition, fiction, so true crime stories can't be novellas. But that's no matter. Overall, these podcasts are well worth the listen.Read full review »

If you enjoy listening to stories from the past, and true crime, this is the perfect podcast. No bantering hosts (which can annoy some listeners) but just one story teller with unique music for each episode. I love to listen while getting ready in the morning. 👍🏼
