A Little Tired
The show has sadly lost a step since losing Mickey Inzlicht. The hosts are both pleasant enough — the interview episodes can still be interesting — but Yoel too often dresses up the most conventional views of his discipline as "insight." Alexa has a bit more awareness, but is too quick to find a comfortable compromise with her co-host. To make the show better, they might consider doing a bit more pre-show research before holding forth on topics outside their immediate expertise. I found the episode on Paul Meehl's work to be particularly obtuse. In the most recent episode, Yoel railed against the term "decolonize" without it ever occurring to him, apparently, that the deeply individualist assumptions that make psychology might be an important issue here.Read full review »
