Good podcast, slightly judgmental
So far the content is really interesting and I can’t wait to listen to the rest of it! I’m a little concerned that their only two episodes left though because it seems like we’re barely getting started at this point. And the podcast is described this is the most interesting work she’s ever done. So I don’t really see how a total of five short episodes is going to cover at all especially since the first three have covered very little ground. So I will update this review at the end of the podcast but I’m hoping that the final two episodes are in squid is the first three. That said I do think the podcaster is a little bit unfairly judgmental. I do think that Tim is a flawed person and there are two things that he did that I think are actually reprehensible and are fair to call out. That said, there are a lot of things that this podcaster brings up as little criticisms or slights that I think are really unwarranted and blown out of proportion. Just as one example she puts a big emphasis on Tim putting other people in danger through manipulation, but the example she gives are his employees investigating missing persons when they might be theoretically in danger from the kidnapper/murderer. But, they are employees of a place that literally searches for missing persons. In all the words this is actually literally the job they end up for, and they seemed excited about the job and that particular mission not nervous or afraid. So it seems like the only person worried about it is the podcaster. And what, he’s charismatic and therefore he should never hire people or have them do anything? Especially if it’s dangerous? Even though that’s a literally the job they signed up for? I actually wonder if it’s motivated by sexism because the employees are women, despite the fact that the podcaster is trying to become a PI, so you would think she would understand that women can also do dangerous things without being manipulated or harmed. Finally, I feel like the podcaster frequently espouses an opinion in the first or second episode that makes tim look bad, only to learn more information in a later episode that changes her opinion of him entirely. But the opinions are all stated almost like they are the conclusions she came to by the end. So if I only listened to one or two episodes I might’ve thought this guy was a jerk. Which I think is really unfair. I think if you’re doing that you need to do one of two things, one is to tell people that your opinion changedthroughout the podcast, thus we can be prepared for that so we don’t just take the author's opinions as gospel. The other is to just not give so many opinions, which I think would be preferable. let us come to our own conclusions. It’s a fascinating story so just present the facts. But I mean I think either would work. Unfortunately instead we hear these opinions and think that they are the ones the author has at the end and it’s pretty unfair to tim. All that said though I do think the podcast is really interesting and I am excited to listen to the final two episodes!Read full review »

I’m going to venture to guess the narrator doesn’t have children. She clearly doesn’t understand what it’s like to lose a child to such disgusting violence. She’s incredibly judgmental of his behavior after his daughter’s death. He wouldn’t be the first father to want to kill the person who...Read full review »
