The backlash proves the point
You don’t listen to Sam Harris because you agree with everything he says. As he stresses, he’s essentially the South Park of intellectuals; no group/tribe is safe from his criticism when he thinks they deserve it. You listen to Sam Harris because you admire the way he thinks, which is beholden to absolutely nobody and overwhelmingly balanced and thoughtful compared to most public intellectuals. The recent backlash from the Trump crowd proves his point. They cannot stand anything that dares threaten their worldview. One must abide by these snowflakes or be labeled with "Trump Derangement Syndrome." This is not different from the tribal madness on the left, and possibly even more dangerous. As Sam has said, he knows his audience and why they listen. If you want tribal bluster, look elsewhere. If you want an original and thought provoking podcast that challenges your preconceptions, you came to the right place.Read full review »

Enlightening and sobering

Sam is amazing and articulate. He always manages to challenge my thinking and reveal new perspectives. The downside is I wish he would post more frequently--of course I would only be satisfied if he posted new episodes twice a day :)
