A Powerful Discussion
It’s incredibly admirable to hear these kinds of stories and to acknowledge the fact that children lose their memories as a self-defense mechanism. I didn’t remember my sex abuse until years later when first discovering porn, and finding some of it familiar. Kids have the mindset that abusive experiences aren’t not bad because they don’t understand it, or other things are worse (like losing a friend). In speaking so openly, we can create an environment where kids are trusted for their word and receive the justice they deserve. Thank you for sharing your story and opening up a safe space.
