“This podcast has become of of my favourite forms of consistent entertainment since the pandemic started. What I love most is not only the fact that Chris and Lizzie are wonderful hosts, storytellers, researchers and film critics. They are also brilliant observers of human nature.
The films they discuss become a prism through which to explore human qualities like ambition, hubris, sacrifice, hope -- and fortitude in the face of impending failure (or disaster).
They do not villify or idealize actors, directors or producers (as is done too often in the media). Instead, they tell their stories (even the undignified ones) with dignity, and walk us through their journey with a great sense of humor and sensitivity to detail.
Each episode has me reflecting long after it has concluded. In a time of global uncertainty, this humanistic, fun, and brutally honest approach to storytelling about the storytelling industry -- is something I look forward to each week.
My only note is: please, let's get some documentaries in the works, too. Plenty of what-went-rights and what-went-wrongs there too :-)”Read full review »
